Meet the Smile Behind the Story

Sarah Jean Ashby is a U.S.-based Autistic children's book author, artist, favorite aunt, and bomb dot com cat mom to her two kitties, Cecie & Lucy (Goosey).

Big on community and personal growth, Sarah loves making impactful art and spending time with her friends & family.

As a neurodivergent & disabled woman, Sarah knows what it's like to sometimes  be bullied or excluded for being a bit too "different."

It is her hope that her book be used as a teaching tool by parents & educators to help guide children (and adults) towards becoming more kind and  compassionate versions of themselves.

"This was such a sweet story about friendship, acceptance, and asking questions to understand.

The words and illustrations captivated a range of ages when I read the story aloud to my boys, ages 6, 8, and 12.

I hope Ashby writes more stories about CeCe and Lulu,

because they are absolutely

LOVEABLE!"

"Cece & The Cone of Compassion was SO stinking cute!

I immediately saw my own fur babies in these characters, which made me love it even more.

I absolutely loved the message!

I could 100% see this sitting on my girls' bookshelf and being one they reach for over and over, not only because of the sweet message, but because the artwork is absolutely stunning too!

Such a sweet little book with a

BIG HEART!"

Kind Words from Readers

"I've had the pleasure of meeting Sarah once, and she was

as lovely as this story is!

She & Ally have made such a charming book with an endearing, yet critical message about

not letting fear or confusion

dictate how we treat others

and new experiences.

As a Neurodivergent family,

I think we can all relate

to Cece and Lulu.

I can't recommend this book enough!

Support local artists

and spread more compassion!"
